Delano Is Back, With Style
Delano has undergone reincarnation. The Miami hangout of Madonna and her ilk has been closed for some time - but in Dubai, the brand has made a resurgence. Delano at Bluewaters is Dubai's cool hotel.
You feel this as soon as you arrive. The lobby's white. You walk past an all-white, open-fronted store. Everything, everyone, is stylish here. The hotel’s shaped like a donkey's hind legs, with lots of zigzag-shaped corridors. Reach your pad, one of 251 in total, and again it's cool - and you feel cool. It's a world of taupe with variations. Look out, perhaps, at a terrace over the pool with deep rust umbrellas, and to the sand and the beautiful blue ocean. There are lots of memories. You may well have a make-your-own Negroni set. You have a very extensive display of half-sized bottles, Japanese whiskey from the barrel through to Hendrick’s dry gin. Downstairs there are great outside terraces, poolside, for eating, drinking, and socializing. The food’s mostly done by Rikas: you've got Tutto Passa, and La Cantine. There’s also the cult Demon Duck by Alvin Leung – Collective says try the 14-day aged duck. Yes, you feel good at Delano, Dubai.
