Cruise the Mekong
The Mekong, at about 2,700 miles, is longest river in Southeast Asia, the seventh longest in Asia, and the 12th longest in the world. Sailing along, seemingly, forever, on Mekong Kingdoms’ new boat Bohème.
Now two months old, the 170-foot-er boat travels between the Kingdom of Laos' royal capital, Luang Prabang, and the national capital, Vientiane. Along the way, unwind, meditate, bird watch. There are massages – the boat has two treatment rooms. There are cultural adventures. Ashore, go to the Pak U Caves, torch in hand, to marvel at the countless Buddha images inside. Eat near the breathtaking Kuang Si waterfall, which flows through the jungle and spills into a series of cascading pools. For the creatively minded, make saa paper from mulberry tree bark, and fresh flowers and leaves, at the Ban Xang Khong papermaking village. Meet up with friendly elephants at Xayaboury's Elephant Conservation Centre. And all the while, glide past lush jungle landscapes. Shown here is Bohème’s royal suite, with private sun deck, a freestanding bathtub and a dedicated butler .
