Illusions in Boston

Kick your heart out. Jump up and down. In the just-opened Museum of Illusions in Boston, there are some 60 amazing interactive things that you can do.

You don't have to be under 15 to play the fool. Young at heart of all ages, say with families or one other person, or even with a group of business pals, can really let their hair down. The Museum of Illusions Boston is the 45th location of a company called LOL Entertainment, started by a Philadelphian, Rob Cooper, now the CEO of the Chicago-based company - his degree from Penn State was in finance and international business, which just shows you never know where those two disciplines can take you.

From the Museum of Illusions, at 200 State Street, it’s only 9 minutes’ walk to the Langham, Boston - which is not an illusion. It might still look like a bank, but it was a bank, built in 1914 as the Federal Reserve Bank. The former Banking Hall is now Grana restaurant, and the Fed Bar honours the great US Fed.  See the seal in the floor of what is now Bond Bar. The Wyeth Room has oversized paintings of Lincoln and Washington by N.C. Wyeth, 1852-1945 (the prolific Wyeths were to American painting what the Bachs are to music).

Enter the lobby of this magnificently stately hotel through glass doors. Straight ahead, you see the concierge and the reception desk, and there's an impressive grand piano on your left-hand side. Best rooms are any that have access to the 8th floor club lounge. Create your own illusions, imagining what finance went on in this place.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
