Making a Shelter
Lake Como’s good enough for George Clooney, Madonna, and Donatella Versace – and for those who like clean lines.
Also known as Lake Lalo, Lake Como – in the Lombardy region of Italy - conjures up lazy slipper yachting, no end in sight. It’s a lake of glacial origin, 56 square miles, the third largest lake in Italy. At 1,300 feet deep, it's the fifth deepest lake in Europe and the deepest outside Norway. It has been popular for those-who-know for nearly 2,000 years.
It's already got stunning hotels. And now Mama Shelter Lake Como will be opening next year. Even the thought of it conjures up lazy leisure, still no end in sight, but then back to Como, to Mama. Sleek A+B2 architettura design, as in the image. 150 rooms at Mama Shelter, where design Manhattan meets Monaco, a shared vibe through music, entertainment, and urban design. It's coming from Ennismore, Accor’s lifestyle leader led mainly by Sharon Pasrisha, the entrepreneur whose many properties include Gleneagles. Here, at Como, the joint venture partners making this-all happen are serial fun-hospitality investor Extendam, from Paris, and Milan-based Natale Giostra, MD Zanclon Capital, who realised how an unused lump of land formerly owned by Angelo Maiocchi could become fun paradise.
